ElementaryLi is a new GTK3 theme by sonnhy96. As the name suggests, it is based on Elementary OS theme and it has proper support for Ubuntu 12.04 and Unity.

The theme looks beautiful and nicely integrates with Ubuntu 12.04 except for System Settings which has some issues.

Orion is a modern light theme for Gnome 3 based on the Unico engine. It supports Gnome Shell, Unity, XFCE and Openbox and is compatible with the latest GTK 3.4. A GTK 2.0 theme using Murrine engine is also included.

The latest version of Orion theme have following changes:
  • Improved sidebar view, added support for beatbox, added openbox theme
  • Updated for Gnome 3.4 and Ubuntu 12.04

Run the following commands to install Orion theme:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:satyajit-happy/themes

Use Ubuntu Tweak, My Unity or Gnome Tweak Tool to change the theme.

One of the most popular GTK2 themes Orta has been finally ported to GTK3 by rebek94. The theme has been designed to match closely the original Orta look.

It currently lacks customization tools/options that came with original Orta GTK2. However it looks pretty cool with Faenza Icon set. Orta GTK3 also uses Orion GTK3 theme by Satya.

Satya who designed many cool GTK3 and Gnome Shell themes has recently released/updated 3 new themes - Gaia, Elementary Dark and Orion.

You can easily install these themes from a PPA. To add the PPA, run these commands and then follow instructions below.

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:satyajit-happy/themes
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gnome-shell-extensions-user-theme

Gnome Shell - Gaia

Gaia Shell is clean and beautiful theme for Gnome Shell inspired by the Gaia project. It tries to represent the colors of nature while maintaining a clean and aesthetic look. Gaia Shell is compatible with the latest Gnome Shell 3.2.

The theme has been updated recently with many new features:

Boomerang is a set of two cool GTK3/GTK2 themes by ghogaru. These themes support both Unity and Gnome Shell and come with dark panel/menu and light panel/menu variants.

The theme pack requires Unico GTK3, Murrine GTK2 and Pixbuf GTK2 engines. While Unico and Murrine are installed by default in Ubuntu, you can install Pixbuf GTK2 engine by running the command below:

sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-pixbuf

Now just grab the theme pack from here and extract the archive into usr/share/themes. You can use Gnome Tweak Tool to switch themes.

Follow the instruction below to fix the panel background in Gnome 3 Classic Session.

Bisigi Project has released 15 well designed and beautiful GTK2 themes. However, the project was concluded recently after the team announced that there will be no support for GTK3.

Grvrulz, one of the many fans of Bisigi themes refused to give up and decided to port these themes to GTK3 on his own.
This is good news for all fans of Bisigi themes. I know some people think they're outdated but I think they are really nice and 'easy on the eyes' themes with focus on simplicity and getting the work done. When the project's end was announced, I took up the task of recreating/porting the themes to gtk3. Since I'm free from all my projects and practical report files now, I can work on those. I see a bright future for these themes. I hope this turns out to be good.
