Google's flagship Android OS is gobbling up market share in every nook and corner of the world, and the story is no different in India as well. Now it's the turn of Android 4.0 based Tablets to take on the world. But, there are no blockbuster Andriod Tabs yet, apart from may be Kindle Fire. Two rather unknown Indian mobile phone manufacturers has just launched their first ever Android Tablets, that too based on Android 4.0 ICS. Daily Builds for Kubuntu Active are now available.

Kubuntu Active is based on new KDE Plasma Active Tablet interface that also comes with recently launched Spark/Vivaldi tablets.
Kubuntu Active is first Ubuntu based tablet distribution. Daily build iso images are based on 12.04 LTS and only i386 images are available as of now. However, ARMv7 builds will be provided soon.

Aaron J. Seigo, from KDE Plasma Active development team has revealed a tablet which could be the first device to come with Plasma Active pre-installed.
If you don't know about Plasma Active project yet:
Plasma Active is a joint project by the KDE community, basysKom and open-slx. The goals for this open source project are to deliver a fast embedded UX platform with minimal memory requirements, provide customizable and modular to support different form factors and design an interface that adapts as users change Activities.

Aakash Android Tablet - World's Cheapest Tablet is Finally Launched
World’s cheapest tablet PC 'Aakash'(means "sky" in Hindi) is finally launched. It will be given to students after subsidising the price by up to 50 per cent, India's Human Resources Development Minister Kapil Sibal said while unveiling the device in New Delhi.

India's low cost $35 Android tablet is to be launched on October 5. Indian HRD minister Kapil Sibal said at a function that the tablet will be going to be launched soon next month.

"This is not just a dream, it is a reality. The computer will bring in immense benefits to the students and will be connected to the net and perform all the functions that any other computer can perform."

This tablet was first announced in July 2010 and since then it has gone through repeated delays and production problems. The name of the tablet will be announced at Launch on October 5.
