Unity 5.2 has just been uploaded to the Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin repositories, bringing multi monitor support, a new SUPER+TAB Launcher switcher, per workspace alt-tab switcher, a new shortcut hints overlay, "push to reveal" launcher behavior, a new home dash and the window auto-maximize functionality has been disabled on monitors with a resolution above 1024x600.
The new version was already available for testing in the Unity PPA and we've already covered some of these new features a while back (for a keyboard shortcuts hints overlay and SUPER+TAB Launcher switcher video, see THIS post).
The most important change in the latest Unity 5.2 is multi monitor support - a launcher with screen edge detection is now displayed on every monitor, so you don't have to travel to another display to launch or switch applications:

Beatbox, the default music player in the upcoming elementary "Luna" release, has reached version 0.3 codename "Acolyte". The new version includes an improved album view, iPod sync, podcast and Internet radio support, among others.
Beatbox features a clean interface with 3 possible views, including a very cool album view, smart playlists, MPRIS v2 support (can make use of the Ubuntu sound menu or various GNOME Shell extensions) Last.fm integration (scrobbling, similar songs, etc.) and more.

Unity improvements
The latest Unity, available in Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin alpha 2 feels very smooth and is actually quite stable for an alpha. Besides many bug fixes, there were also many tweaks and changes designed to make Ubuntu 12.04 "pixel perfect" and while we'll obviously not cover all of them, you can read about the most important changes below.

Airtime is a free open source radio management application. The Airtime server runs on Linux, but the interface can be used from anywhere, using a web browser.
It features DJ management, playlists and shows, SoundCloud integration, supports Icecast and SHOUTcast and comes with a jQuery-based interface that supports drag and drop.
Airtime 2.0 has been released a few days ago and it includes many improvements like easier Icecast and SHOUTcast streams configuration, better calendar, playlists and SoundCloud integratoin and more.
In Airtime 2.0, Icecast and SHOUTcast streams as well as the hardware output API (ALSA, OSS, AO, Pulseaudio, and Portaudio) can be configued through the web interface. Also, you can now have up to three streams with different bitrates and point them to different Icecast / SHOUTcast servers.

Back at the Ubuntu Developer Summit, it was decided that Ubuntu 12.04 will continue to use some GNOME 3.2 applications and will only pick up some GNOME 3.4 components like GNOME Games, Gedit and others.
Jeremy Bicha has posted an update on the versions of some GNOME components for the upcoming Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin.
- Totem: as expected, Totem will stay at version 3.0 because starting with version 3.2, it uses Clutter which means it won't work for those who aren't using 3D drivers,
- GDM: will stay at 3.0 because it requires a lot of patching, but Ubuntu uses LightDM now anyway so this shouldn't be an issue for most Ubuntu users.

SMPlayer may have been dead for a while, but it seems very active now, with two releases in just one month. The latest SMPlayer 0.7.0 brings basic support for YouTube and MPlayer2 as well as other new features.
- Mplayer2 support
- Use precise seeking with mplayer2. It can be enabled/disabled from Preferences > Interface
- Basic support for YouTube which allows you to open urls via Open > Url, or as a command line parameter. You can also drag and drop a link from a browser to the smplayer window.
- You can select the desired quality for YouTube videos under Preferences > Performance
- New favorite menu, where you can add your favorite videos, music, streams, etc. It's also possible to add submenus.
- New command line option: -disable-server which is used to disable the server used to communicate with other instances. You can use this to launch multiple SMPlayer instances
